I’ve done plenty of heavy lifting in my life but only when necessary and never intentionally. Then I hit 50 and I realized I couldn’t resist any longer-it was time to lift weights! Strength training is absolutely necessary to help me keep what little Muscle Mass I have and to make sure I do what I can to help build bone density that rapidly starts to decline after the age of 40. So join me my friends…..

Week 3- we’re Lifting

First let’s debunk the myth that lifting weights makes you bulky! NOT TRUE
There are different styles and beliefs about “loading” weight but I tend to stick with an all body workout approach . Lifting as much as I can to fatigue my muscles has not only increased my metabolism but really helped me reverse some of my aches and pains especially in my shoulders.

I had no program to follow at home when the Pandemic hit and then along came PJ – who immediately appealed to me when she led with “ f*ck dieting “ she has a potty mouth and a killer bod and her YouTube channel is just for women and has plenty of workouts for women over 40- that’s right gals this sassy Canadian is more concerned about the size of the dumbbells than the number on the scale .One of my favorites is the Quick and Dirty “ Build Strength for Bone Density “ – try it you’ll like it…..and remember, Rome was not built in a day so if you are just starting out show yourself some love and give it a minute !
